Human Embryonic/Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Core
About the core
The mission of the Yale Stem Cell Center’s hESC/iPSC Core (now part of the Yale Medical School’s Central Research Cores) is to provide essential services for research on human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to researchers at Yale University and beyond.
- Serves as a central repository and distribution center for hESC and iPSC lines.
- Provides training in thawing, maintenance, expansion, differentiation, and cryopreservation of hESCs/iPSCs.
- Provides service on reprogramming somatic cells into iPSCs.
- Provides service on genome editing on hESCs and iPSCs lines using CRISPR/Cas9 technology including single nucleotide replacement and adding and knocking out of genes.
- Provides service on banking customer’s iPSC lines.
- Orders bulk essential reagents for research on hESCs and iPSCs and distributes to researchers with at discounted prices.
- Provide service on karyotyping and teratoma formation to ensure hESC and iPSC genome stability and pluripotency.
- Opens laboratory to researchers to initiate their hESC/iPSC research.
- Serves as a liaison with the ESCRO committee and assists with and oversees Materials Transfer Agreements for hESC lines as needed.
- Expands all services to external users, including non-profit and biotech companies.
