About the instrument

This dispensing instrument allows for rapid, positive displacement dispensing of many liquid reagents. It can dispense volumes as low as 0.1 μl with dead volumes as low as 6 μl. The Mantis is capable of dispensing into anywhere from 6 to 1536 locations on an SLAS footprint plate.

Liquid dispensing with the Mantis is convenient for:

  • Complicated plate designs
  • Low volume dispensing (<10 μl)
  • Dispensing of liquids incompatible with polypropylene pipette tips (e.g. chlorinated solvents)
  • Viscous liquids (up to 60/40 glycerol/water mixtures)
  • Dispensing precious reagent into 48- or 96-wells
  • Time-delayed dispensing
  • Dispensing into 384- or 1536-well plates

The Mantis is a compact-footprint liquid dispenser. It is usually located inside a glovebox, but if needed it can be moved outside. While a dedicated computer is available, any Windows computer can run the dispensing routines via USB connection.
