Welcome Annmarie Pacchia

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Annmarie Pacchia, PhD, will join Yale as the senior associate provost for sponsored program administration on September 21, 2026. In this role, Annmarie will lead key areas of Yale’s Office of Research Administration, with particular focus on supporting faculty and staff across the lifecycle of sponsored research and strengthening Yale’s research administration systems to secure continued external funding.

Annmarie’s appointment completes the strategic restructuring of research administration leadership that I shared last year. In response to the increasingly complex research environment and the evolving needs of our research community, we have reorganized research administration leadership into two distinct roles: the senior associate provost for research compliance and regulatory affairs, led by Crista Brawley, and the senior associate provost for sponsored program administration, led by Annmarie. The two will work closely with one another and with colleagues across Yale to ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness of our research administration infrastructure.

Annmarie brings to Yale nearly 20 years of experience leading research administration and research business operations in large academic settings. Most recently, she served as head of research business strategy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), where she worked closely with research and institutional leadership on enterprise research operations, financial strategy, and cross-functional planning. Prior, as senior vice president in MSK’s Office of Research and Project Administration, Annmarie stewarded $1 billion in annual research expenditures, including $500 million in sponsored grants and contracts revenue, and more than 1,200 proposals and 350 awards annually. From her tenure at MSK, Annmarie brings extensive experience leading large teams and developing strategies to improve efficiency and better support researchers.

In her new role at Yale, Annmarie will lead the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) and Faculty Research Management Services (FRMS), and will have dotted line oversight of Sponsored Projects Financial Administration (SPFA). Jointly with Crista Brawley, Annmarie will also help oversee the Office of Research Administration Data Analytics & Operations (RADIO), which provides software, data analytics and operational support, and the Office of Research Compliance.

Annmarie earned her doctorate in molecular biology from Rutgers University and her bachelor’s degree in biology from Drew University. Her extensive research experience, leadership in sponsored research administration, and expertise in financial and operational strategy will be a valuable addition to Yale’s research team.
