We are excited to announce the launch of the 2025 NSF CAREER Training Series, designed to support early-career faculty in preparing competitive proposals for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program.
 

What is the NSF CAREER Training Series?

This series will provide an in-depth overview of the CAREER Program, including:
  • Strategies for developing a compelling research and education plan
  • Guidance on meeting NSF’s broader impacts and intellectual merit criteria
  • Insights from previous CAREER awardees  Best practices for writing and organizing a successful proposal
     

Who Should Attend?

This training is ideal for early career faculty who are planning to apply for the 2025 NSF CAREER Award. Eligible faculty must:

  • Hold a doctoral degree in a field supported by NSF;
  • Be engaged in research in an area of science, engineering, or education supported by NSF (department supported by CAREER: Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Geosciences, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences);
  • Hold at least a 50% tenure-track (or tenure-track-equivalent) position as an assistant professor (or equivalent title);
  • Be untenured; and
  • Have not previously received a CAREER award. (Prior or concurrent Federal support for other types of awards for non-duplicative research does not preclude eligibility.)
     

Schedule: every second Thursday of the month 1:00 – 2:30PM

  • Session 1 (Nov. 14th): Introduction to NSF CAREER Award & Key Elements and Resources (Broader Impacts & Intellectual Merit and Research and Education plans)
  • Session 2 (Dec. 12th): Non-Scientific Resources (MyNCBI (biosketches), Budgeting, Indirect costs, Yale internal routing) 
  • Session 3 (Jan. 9th): Lessons Learned and Advice from NSF CAREER Awardees, Data Management and Best Practices
