New YSM Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs

Dear YSM Community:

I am delighted to share that Anthony J. Koleske, PhD, professor of molecular biophysics and biochemistry and neuroscience, will assume the role of deputy dean for scientific affairs (basic science departments) effective April 1, 2020. A graduate of University of Wisconsin and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Professor Koleske is internationally recognized for his work defining the Abl family kinases as regulators of the cytoskeleton and elucidating mechanisms that control neuronal development and connectivity.

Professor Koleske served as director of the Combined PhD programs in Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) from 2014 to 2019. He has served as a mentor for Women in Science at Yale since 2016. Most recently he has served as director of the China Scholarship Council-Yale World Scholars Program and as a co-director of the Yale BioMed SURF Amgen Scholars Program (with Faye Rogers and Barbara Kazmierczak). Professor Koleske succeeds Professor Michael Crair, who steps into the role of vice provost for research.

Please join me in congratulating Professor Koleske on his new role.

Sincerely,

Nancy J. Brown, MD
