Dana Sanders joins as Senior Director of Faculty Research Management Services

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that Dana Sanders will be joining Yale on July 8, 2026, as the Senior Director of Faculty Research Management Services.

Dana comes to Yale with more than 15 years of university leadership experience in strategic operations and research administration. Most recently, she served at Duke University School of Medicine as Director of the Research Administration Support Resource, where she led a large team of administration professionals in supporting a wide range of sponsored and non-sponsored research portfolios across multiple basic science departments. In this role, Dana also oversaw more than $125 million in sponsored research projects and managed additional budgets for administrative units and institutional grants and contracts at Duke. Dana brings a deep knowledge of federal rules and regulations and extensive expertise in partnering with faculty, staff, and university teams to develop solutions that support research success for faculty.

Dana earned a Master of Business Administration and a Certificate in Healthcare Administration from East Carolina University and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University. She has also contributed to the national research community through professional presentations and publications, leading workshops at Duke, the National Council of University Research Administrators, and the Association of American Medical Colleges, among other organizations.

In her new role, Dana will report to the Senior Associate Provost for Sponsored Program Administration. She will work closely with colleagues across the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Office of Research Administration, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, and the broader university community to ensure that Yale's faculty administrative support of sponsored projects continues to meet the evolving and expanding needs of our faculty and research programs.

Dana's depth of experience supporting large-scale and multifaceted research portfolios, navigating complex regulatory landscapes, and building large, collaborative, service-oriented teams makes her exceptionally well-suited for this role. We are confident that her leadership will help further strengthen Yale's research community and the support for our faculty and staff as we navigate an increasingly complex terrain of funding for sponsored research programs.
