LISREL Analysis of Correlated Error

Attitudes toward Hispanics and Official English Policy

Title HISPANIC IMAGE AND ITS EFFECTS ON OFFICIAL ENGLISH, 1991
! Replication of Green and Citrin (1994) AJPS.
! The independent variable in this study is perceptions of the
! social/economic impact of growing numbers of Hispanics in the
! US. Data are drawn from the 1991 NES Pilot survey. The key feature
! of this analysis is the different results one obtains when
! allowance is made for the response biases associated with
! the "Hispanic Impact" battery of like-worded and consecutive
! questions. Two analyses are presented here. The first ignores
! nonrandom error in measures of the independent variable. (Note
! that the method factor (KSI2) is set to have zero variance.)
! In analysis 2, the method factor is assumed to contribute a
! constant amount of variance to all five impact measures.
