Jacki Schirmer Jacki is a Research Fellow at the Australian National University in Canberra, and currently leads the Cooperative Research Centre for Forestry's "Communities" project. She has spent most of the last seven years undertaking research examining the social issues and impacts that emerge as a result of land use change from traditional agriculture to tree plantations, as well as exploring social dimensions of change to natural resource management more broadly. Jacki has a particular interest in improving the rigour of methods aiming to understand the social impacts of change to natural resources. Her current work with the CRC for Forestry "Communities" project is further exploring how the use of statistics can be usefully combined with qualitative data drawn from residents of rural communities to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of impacts of land use change.
