About DataHaven
DataHaven is an interactive Internet-based data resource available to all organizations and citizens interested in understanding the Greater New Haven area and its assets, opportunities, and challenges.
Geographic Coverage: This site includes extensive economic, social, and health data on the 22 towns of South Central Connecticut that are included in the regions served by either the United Way of Greater New Haven, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the Regional Growth Partnership, the South Central Connecticut Council of Governments, or the Regional Workforce Development Board (see Map of Towns included in DataHaven and boundaries of different regions).
DataHaven has drawn on and will continue to draw on the extensive experience and expertise in the South Central Connecticut region in collecting and making data available for community use. DataHaven's goals are:
- To engage the general public as well as civic and community-based institutions, the media, business and government in better understanding the region's key challenges and opportunities through shared access to high quality objective data (see our List of Indicators).
- To facilitate measuring progress toward the community's goals over time.
- To make DataHaven resources accessible to all levels of neighborhood, community, civic and regional groups through effective outreach and education about the use of data improve policy and affect positive social change.
DataHaven tools and capabilities will be expanded and developed based on user feedback to the extent resources are made available for this purpose. The project is guided by the DataHaven Development Team.
DataHaven is a community project led by a volunteer Board of Directors with the funding and in-kind support of the United Way of Greater New Haven, the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, Yale University, Connecticut Voices for Children, the Regional Growth Partnership, Holt, Wexler & Farnam and the Connecticut Policy and Economic Council.
Additional providers of funding and in-kind support for the early development of the Regional Data Cooperative that lead to DataHaven were the Caspar W. Graustein Memorial Fund, the New Haven Savings Bank Foundation, the Regional Water Authority, the City of New Haven, and the Corporation for National and Community Service (through SEEDCo).
