The Yale Center for Cultural Sociology recognizes several international affiliates. These are programs characterized by a commitment to the style of theoretical and cultural inquiry that we have developed here. Over the years we have developed strong bonds with these research centers including:
- Joint theoretical and empirical research agendas
- Collaboration on publications at all levels, from articles to books
- Sabbatical exchange of faculty and postdoctoral researchers
- Regular participation in workshops and conferences

Thesis Eleven Centre for Cultural Sociology
The Thesis Eleven Centre for Cultural Sociology at La Trobe University is located in the Sociology Program, Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus in the School of Social Sciences.
The primary purposes of the Centre are to develop further the network of local and global contacts already established by the journal, and to seek to secure research funding to generate further innovations in critical theory while bridging the careers of graduates in transition.
CCS Fellow Peter Beilharz is Director of the Centre.
The social theory journal Thesis Eleven has been in publication since 1980.
The Centre for the Study of Global Media and Democracy
The future of democracy is inseparable from the capacities of media – at all scales from the local to the global. Both the sustainability and the expansion of democracy depend on what media institutions do and what spaces media make possible. The complexity of these processes requires interdisciplinary research across politics, sociology and media. The Centre for the study of Global Media and Democracy was set up in September 2007 to address these connections.
CCS Fellow Kate Nash is Co-Director of the Centre.
