Afro-American Cultural Center 40th Anniversary
The Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale will celebrate its 40th anniversary, October 16-18, 2009, with the theme "Charting a Course for the Next Generation of Black Yalies." This is a weekend for Yale alumni, current students, faculty and administrators to come together and reflect on the history of the “House” from its founding during the Civil Rights Movement to the present “Obama era”; assess the current state of affairs at Yale and within the greater global community; and create a plan for building our future. The weekend will feature a plenary, roundtables/work-sessions that highlight the black experience at Yale and its influence in our communities, faculty lectures, alumni exhibits and artistic performances.
Please gather your classmates, friends and family and register now! And, check back regularly for updated program and speaker notes as we put the finishing touches on this dynamic weekend.
We have much to celebrate as a community of Yalies and there’s more to do during these transformative times!
